Weird Dreams.. LOL!

No don't mistake me, I haven't been having weird dreams and premonitions lately. I am NOT Prof.Trelawney's assistant and don't predict to be a soothsayer or anything. I just woke up from this deep sleep and recollected a dream which is in no way logical or rational or is perhaps impossible. Then again, "I have a dream" or perhaps just had it and want to know about it.

The dream is about 2 of my closest friends. 1 whom I've lost a lot of contact with and 1 whom has become all the more closer these days. The two of them don't even know about each other's existence ironically. However this weird dream of mine links (NO, not the chappli meaning please) them in such an unimaginative way that it was really funny...

Sorry but that's all I can say. LOL! Hope to see Vishnu on the 6th btw. And terribly missing Jaya (Alipatti) and Andy, the rockers.

I will come there on June 1st. When does school start for you people? Would like to see you all there!
Besides, don't get too nostalgic. Some of the recent posts show that you guys are becoming too sentimental. Until now, I guess there are atleast 3-4 reviews commenting on people and the incidents in 11th!! hehe

a glimpse into my life 2006 -07

hey guys
i suppose this is my first post... vikku has been pestering me for quite some time to post on priory.... but i just didn't know what to post..now seeing the trend... i guess a walk down my memory lane would be a good one to start off with...
11th has been a lot of firsts for me... it would be a blatant lie if i said everything went on smoothly... but looking at the brighter side...i am still alive and sane to tell the tale... 10th to 11th was a big leap as far as acads was concerned...... it took me sometime to learn to " aim low, reach my goals and avoid disappointments" as far as assignments were concerned... but unfortunately it took my parents a lot more time... i would come home dancing away to glory that i scraped that magical 20 in chemistry and there would me mom... standing with a quizzical look that says something like.." isnt the assignment out of 25?"...lol...parents never grow up i guess... in other aspects too i learnt a lot... and believe it or not... i grew up.....for example i learnt not to give a damn what others say about you and be myself...as far as friends are concerned... this year has been extremely hectic... so many people to befriend and so little time....let alone the new student everyone of whom seemed to be dear enough... this was the year that many of us old students, came out of the boundaries of our respective sections and began to socialize...especially me...being in the same section for five years my whole life revolved around that class.. may be a four or five good friends apart from my class and a dozen outside the school.... not that making friends was difficult... but just that i didn't bother to... now i know what a big mistake that was.....i dont think i can do justice to the topicif i dont elaborate on this one...

old friends....

10 b girls -
anu, raghavee, jp, PD and the list goes on.... i dont know why and can not explain how.. but from the begining of this year we have been drifting apart... though i know they will always be there for me.. the intimacy is just lost... probably because we dont get to see each other much... PD, of course , still in science group... we are still very much in contact and still good friend... she has changed a lot... for the better though...and raghavee.. though we hardly see each other these days.. the moment we do.. we click back together as if not a day has been lost... however less the time spent together might be, i still know that they are always there for me... and am thankful for that...

shruthi
well... sharing so much in common and being the only 2 from 10b we were destined to be best of friends.... we knew each other inside out... though we had been close for quite some time... 11th got us even more closer.. i am not going to pretend that everything was easy between us.. this year our friendship attained what i consider to be the next level.. not completely for the better... but still things are a lot more clearer now... she is one person who knows and accepts me for what i really am... she can literally read my mind and has been there when i needed her th most... and i know for sure that this is a friendship that is going to last forever... come what may...

naren and raja
technically speaking i know him for 6 years now... but the naren i saw in 11th was no way similar to the naren i knew in 10th... i doubted if he could speak about anything that doesnt involve maths or science... but man... he proved me wrong... in 11th naren opened up a lot... moreover, he had started working like mad in 11th.. he was always a competition to me.... but somehow or the other i managed to stay a step ahead... now i guess it is his turn to rock... at least as far as the school is concerned......raja... now he is one person who hasn't changed a bit.... he is still the same outgoing, friendly raja with the craziest of ideas.... intel inside mental outside.... lol...

chappli
we were not exactly close friends... but hindi classes, AMTI, and infosys had made us pretty good friends before 11th... 11th was a completely different story... going to the same IIT classes where we spent more time than even in our homes and being the only two crazy enough to come online at 1 in the night... we became really good friends... his hyperbol sometimes drives me mad and he had been in the recieving end of my fury quite a number of times.... acts like the macho man all the time... but in reality a real softie at heart...he is a friend i've grown closer to in11th...

shruthi smruti....
of all these friendships.. i dare say.. this one has been the most valuble..... though anyone who knows us well can pick out quite a few no of differences between us... the few common traits we have brought us closer in a short span of time.. especially smruthi.. we with our insane ideas and determination to make others' life miserable can easily qualify to be the troublesome two in our IIT classes... giggling over the silliest of jokes, we still think about our future in college which hopefully will be in the IIT campus together... and there is shruthi to get us out of troubles and give us a good whack if we need one... i dont want to lose this friendship...ever...

new friends...
now this is a never ending list....

swetha..
well.... who knew that this girl whom i considered to be just another stuck up nerd in the 10 d gang will turn out to be one of the best friends i ever had in my life.... with her i had no reason to hide anything... that was the best thing about us.. we each have our own space and our own opinions... and no trespassing in that area... being highly opinionated we both could share so many things which i wouldnt have even dreamt of telling others for the fear of hearing a lecture in return...she helped me thro with some really rough times too...... though i dont exactly believe the concept of best friends... i dare say... she is the closest who can come near it....keep smilin swe!

pavithra
whoa!! she was one hell of a surprise to me... my opinions about her as a primadonna... this annoyingly calm, conserved, "poised" person..... turned out to be bullcrap....she is the most exciting person i've ever known and yet down to earth....the first close friend in 11th and a great one at that... she never failed to surprise me.. we sailed thro rough times together... so far she is the only person who can critisize me on my face and put me back to place and still get away with it...

vaaruni..
runi.. when people told me that there was this new girl from sishya coming... my hopes werent exactly that high./... but again i turned out to be wrong... runi is the most interesting person i have ever known... she gets he wackiest of ideas and laughs at the craziest of jokes... though sometimes she falls into the insane category she is another very good friend i am happy to have found in 11th...

lakshmi
smart and funny at the same time who can resist befriending this sweet little thing ( literally little)..... she and her utterly disgusting jokes...ughh.... she knows how to make me throw up... but at the same time her "i dont care what u think" attitude and ever happy face is what made us good friends... i hope to go a long way with this friendship...

vikku
this nocturnal creature i know only via the net.... i seriously thought he was nuts.. well... i was partially right... but still... i owe him a lot... since without him many boring days would have gotten even more boring... he has got a great taste in music ( because it very much resembles mine).. can not start on some topic for all the money in the world... when asked he would say some crap about ladies first and him being more of a listener :P...

anja
i didnt even know such a guy existed till 11th..... he is a hell lot of fun... a flirt with a capital F... but still a very good friend.... him with his exceedingly dumb imagination.. he is always cooking up some new name for me... (his latest creation is "dasha" that should give u a clue on what the others must be like...lol)... a trustworthy and soft hearted person... i know he will always be there for me...

of course there is the 11 b guys gang....
they are AWESOME everyone of them ... even shivram is not an exception ( though his main goal in life is to break my bones and drink my blood).... there is NK... we never get tired of throwing insults at each other... ( though we dont mean a single one)or of throwing paint brushes at each other in bio lab... manipulating values in the physics lab i never knew guys can be so free with others... of course there is the silent terror kaushik shridhar... he looks like a lost puppy all the time ... but beware... his cunning little mind is somewhere else...there is pradhum and nandan... twin trouble...they are the sole reason how we bore those tiring math classes... they are hilarious.....undisputed clowns in our class...and there is sai, kritti... who can forget ani... the mokka master... wanna commit suicide?.... ani to the rescue....though he acts ridiculous half the time ... he is a very naive and highly sensitive person... his quarrels sometimes can be juvenile but inside he is a great person.....
of course there is kaku, vasu, vasiya, vaishu, aarthi, ranga, radhika, and so many more near and dear friends.... but i just haven got the patience to type it all out.....this is not even one hundredth of my story...however full of ups and downs 11th might have been... in the end i am happy that whatever i might have lost in this year, i have gained friends who are going to last forever... come what may...
love

Movies Galore

Its been a long time since i posted in this place and so, i wanted to be "back with a bang" like the saying goes!!!..

So here i am, starting a new post and breaking the new trend of posting reminisces of the last year. Summer has started and this is the time it is going to peak (agni nakshatram has already started you know). This summer, most movies coming up are absolutely fantastic and a must-see for all. But, i still wanted to post this so that everyone can get an idea of what some of the greatest movies releasing this summer are all about.

This idea struck me a long time back but today morning's metro plus issue made me prepare this post. So, lets get to the actual post:

This summer, hollywood has got a huge treat for us. It all started with the much awaited Spiderman 3. And as expected, it has exceeded all grossings of previous hollywood movies in India and not without a reason as shreyas pointed out.

The other movies looked forward to are:

1) Pirates of the Caribbean : At World's End :
One hell of a much awaited movie. Everybody is just waiting to see Johnny Depp back as Captain Jack Sparrow. The trailer was shown before Spiderman 3 started in the theatres and i must say this - it was AWESOME!!!.

I am not gonna waste my time explaining the first two movies but i must say that you must watch them cause this final package of the trilogy is said to be heavily based on the first two. So what is the third instalment all about?

At the conclusion of part 2, Will Turner, Elizabeth Swann, and company find refuge with Tia Dalma, who offers them the opportunity to rescue Captain Jack Sparrow from Davy Jones' Locker. She says they will need a captain, "who knows those waters," prompting the reappearance of Captain Barbossa, killed by Jack Sparrow in the first film and who has been resurrected.

In the third film, the crew travel to Singapore to steal a navigational chart from the Chinese pirate Sao Feng, which will lead them to the World's End. They journey through a frozen ocean before sailing over an enormous waterfall and into Davy Jones' Locker (seems idiotic, doesnt it???... but believe me, once you see the movie, you will forget all about the idiocity of the storyline). While imprisoned there, Jack Sparrow is confronted with the many facets of his character before being rescued by Will, Elizabeth and the crew. Despite their mutual animosity and distrust, Sparrow and Barbossa form an alliance when they discover a more sinister threat has arisen; Cutler Buckett, who now possesses the heart of Davy Jones, has begun purging piracy with the commanded assistance of Jones and the Flying Dutchman. The world's pirates gather for a meeting known as the Brethren of the Coast, consisting of nine pirate lords, including Sao Feng, as the stage is set for a climactic battle between pirates, Davy Jones and his henchmen, the Royal Navy, and the East India Trading Company at an enormous whirlpool.

2) Shrek 3 :
One wonderful movie for children. Shrek 1 & 2 have been a mix-up of all of the greatest fairy tale characters in a mixed-up common tale in which all of them play a part.

Shrek 1 & 2 were huge grossers for animated films and though the storyline is crap (you HAVE to agree with me on this), the movie is wonderful with mix of comedy and action and emotion in a very well-packed bundle. So, what is the latest shrek all about?

Shrek the Third has Shrek and Fiona watching over their kingdom of Far, Far Away, now that King Harold is a frog, yet Shrek feels that he never cares about his friends. When King Harold falls ill and is dying, Shrek and Fiona determine that if they can find a suitable heir to the throne of Far Far Away and bring him back, they can leave their current lifestyles behind and return to their swamp. The most promising candidate for the position of king is Fiona's cousin, Arthur (Artie) who proves to be much more of a problem than Shrek, Donkey, and Puss had bargained for.

While Shrek is away, Prince Charming attempts to take the throne of Far Far Away. To do that, he heads to the Poison Apple Bar and assembles a coup d'etat made up of Captain Hook (of Peter Pan fame), The Wicked Queen (i think this one is of the fame of Alice of Wonderland, i dont know, though), a Cyclops, RumpelStiltskin, and Mabel the Ugly Stepsister as well as an army of black knights, witches and walking trees. The pregnant Fiona, her mother, Queen Lillian, and Doris the Ugly Stepsister recruit four of Fiona's closest princess friends, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Rapunzel, and Cinderella to help them hold off Prince Charming's quest for the throne, with added help from Shrek's friends, Pinocchio, the Three Little Pigs, the Big Bad Wolf, Suzie Cassidy, the Blind mice, and the Gingerbread Man.

Like i told you, its a mixed tale of the most famous of fairy tale characters.

3) Spiderman 3 :

Need i say more after shre's post. NAH!!!!...

4) Fantastic Four 2 : Rise of the Silver Surfer :

The second Super-hero movie releasing this summer. As this is only the second part, let me briefly explain what happened in the first part :

Reed Richards is a scientist who does experiments. In one of them, his company's boss's secretary, brother-in-law and friend get exposed to cosmic rays and become super-heroes (actually mutants). Each of them gets different powers using which they defeat Dr.Victor Von Doom who has a body of organic metal which can manipulate energy from his surroundings and help him use them. When he uses these against Reed blaming him for the failure of his company, the four get together and destroy him with the help of Johnny's pyrokinetic powers (simply : his ability to produce flame from any part of his body at will). The movie actually wasn't quite a hit as most super-hero movies are and was subjected to much criticism.

The second part is hopefully better. Heres something about the second part:

In the second part, Susan and Reed are trying to marry in the early parts. Enter, Silver Surfer. Silver Surfer actually has his own history:

Galactus was originally Galan of Planet Taa in the universe which existed prior to the present Marvel Universe. Galan was a space explorer and when the radiation that was to wipe out that universe in a periodic phenomenon known as "Big Crunch" attacked the Planet Taa, Galan tried to escape. But finding no way out, he went towards again to the centre of the Big Crunch in order to meet his doom. But to his surprise, he saw the Cosmic Egg from which the next universe was to arise. There, he was fused against his own will witht the Sentience of the Universe and was born as Galactus in the next Universe.

Galactus, the great alien with god-like cosmic powers and who is considered as one of the 5 essential entities for the current Marvel Universe to exist along with Eternity, Death, Infinity and Oblivion, once wanted to devour the planet of Zenn-La to feed his insatiable hunger. In order to save his planet, the young astronomer of the planet, Norrin Radd agreed to serve as herald to Galactus. So, Galactus granted him enormous powers (including the all powerful power of Power Cosmic, the greatest power in the Marvel Universe which encompasses all other powers and which only Galactus holds and can wield in full power) but also made him forget his past. Hence was born Silver Surfer who travelled the cosmos searching for planets that Galactus can devour for his hunger.

Our story revolves around the part when Silver Surfer visits earth in one of his visits to planets for galactus to devour. But there he sees that the beings are quite similar to that on his own planet and his memory starts coming back. The actual storyline though has supposedly undergone lots of modifications but the part where Silver Surfer betrays Galactus is still retained. The film promises to be a great hit although its prequel's failure is against it.

5 ) Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix :

I am not gonna write a review on this as almost all of you are HP fans and know the story line to the most trivial part. But i must say that this is one of the most awaited movies of the year.

So, this summer seems to be a treat for movie-lovers. Whether it be the magical world of Harry Potter or the fictitious world of Captain Jack Sparrow, this summer, hollywood promises to give us a very very big treat. Hoping that all the movies are as good as the reviews promise,

Signing off,

Rapster

Nyabagam varudhey....

So, here's me following suit..
My year end post starts right away..
The good of 2006-07:
IMO TC(2006 AND 2007): The International Mathematical Olympiad Training camp was easily the best thing that could have happened to me. I realised that it had a great effect in my name's boosting and for this I definitely have to thank my dad primarily... He made my interest in maths grow by leaps and bounds.. Dad, all my credit has to go to you.I also have to thank my Olympiad trainer,Sadagopan Rajesh sir for have made me as competent I am today in the subject and unfailingly KKA sir, who in spite of being my IIT prof only has placed tremendous faith in me and has backed me to do great in the Olympiad... But for him, my story would be different altogether this year..
Abhishek Hemantkumar Dang: For those who might not be knowing, he is a two time Astronomy Olympiad gold medalist and has won a silver, a bronze and a honourable mention in the Maths olympiad.. He has come to IMO TC 2007 for his fourth and last try at the IMO and to win a gold this time.. In the TC , he is my neighbour sharing a common balcony.. We have become great friends now and his is a contact I'd love to maintain for years to come... Till weeks ago, he was my idol and now is a good friend.. The best part was when he volunteered to partner me in a badminton tournament at the TC...
KKA sir's marriage: Definitely this wasn't of a great effect on a personal note.. But the coming of manni has made our classes more lively ones... And it definitely has made KKA sir a much more jolly man..
KKA sir's classes: As long as I was in the tenth, all I knew was that KKA sir was a good teacher..
But I started loving everything about him this year... We became more emotionally bonded towards each other.. As Shre said, he was definitely, the man of the series, or rather in my words, the player of the tournament..
Heritage Quiz: This is something which gave me a great platform in school... I thoroughly enjoyed this experience and had 4 days in Delhi, where I lived life to my heart's fullest..
Rennaisance: We won Rennaisance this year.. One of the marking events in this year's schooling.. 11(12) A rocks... Special thanks to our culrep Vikku...
Mystique: I was on the editorial board of Mystique which came out with a coloured cover for the first time.. We had amazing team work and it paid of really well....
AMTI conference,Mysore: My presentation on sequences here was selected as a research topic and was published in a journal too..
Sivaji:My most expected movie ever, Sivaji starring the great superstar is releasing on May 31... The songs are simply breathtaking and I hope for an equally great movie.. I'm watching it first day first show... Yipee...
The others: This year was marked by getting NTSE, and KVPY scholarships and a fairly decent Cyber Olympiad performance... Nothing much to boast of... I just thank god for whatever great he has given me this year...
The bad of 2006-07:
Grandpa passed away: My closest in my family, my aide and confidante from my younger years, my maternal grandpa passed away on September 5,2006.. After this, I guess nothing went too right for me this year.. This left me shattered..
Doing well at school: In spite of other performances, my old ambition of performing well at school again failed this year.. I was topping the school in the half yearly which gave me quite some hope but the annual proved to be a dampener..
Rivalry: I have hated rivalry... I've wanted to be friends with everyone.. A long rivalry with Vikku came to an end a few weeks ago... Now, people have started talks of a rivalry with Srinivas... Such talks irritate me..
Chemistry: My marks show it... This has been the subject I've hated for long and now am forced to like... And Andy doesn't help either...

Noobies of 11A 2006:
I struck a good rapport with Prasad, Shre and Ranga right away...
Satti is becoming a good friend of late..
Raghu Pradeep is the apple of our eye... He is getting quite close too...

New friends:
Vikku: I have known him since my 5th.. We used to do quite a bit of chatting.. But this year he picked upon me as a rival... But I was persistent to become his friend... And I did succeed.. He finally accepted me as a friend in the aftermath of the Mystique preparation..
Shruthi:My akka... We share the same emotional wavelength(It's gettin repetitive, isn't it?) A really good friend.... I got off by irritating her at first, but then I realised how valuable a friend she could get.. Initally, it was sympathy that got me really close to her, but then I now realise I've made an amazing friend..A friendship I'd value for life..
Shreyas: He has become one of my friends for life... He's very similar to KP and that gets us going really well... A chanceless friend I've earned this year.. He is the guy... Someone who hits a six-faced sixer off Muralitharan...
Prasad: He is a mature looking guy with childish innocence, much similar to me... He has grown into one of my closest friends... One of the new friends with whom I talk a lot... We have some common projects in hand and that is certain to bring us only closer...
Ranga: Dubbed my "attache"... This guy is one with look of childlike innocence... Something he is deficient of... A very nice friend.. My partner in understanding the value of music... Randy shall always remain special to me...
DK/Jyoti: These are guys from my IIT classes.. Have become really close of late.. Coz we share the same thoughts and interests... And both are friends who would do anything for you...
Nitish: A guy from CV.... But not much like it... A fun guy, who at times does scale things up and scale things down.. But it matters least in friendship...
Jayashardha:We have been friends for so long, since the 6th. But Infosys ,Hindi classes and as she claims AMTI, brought us close.. But the IIT classes have really got me some good friends , and she is one among them... Another nocturnal creature like I am, she is one of those ppl I chat with around 1 or 2 in the night.. Funny girl, too short tempered.. But a really good friend abve all..
Among girls I made some friends like
Vasundara- We became friends through the net.. And practicals only made us better friends..
Vaishnavi- Got close to her talking about Simbu and stuff.. Now, a really good and crazy friend..
Vasiya-She used to follow me to every bloody class from my 8th... Now is in the same school.. But for her stupid laughter, she's fine..
Deeptha:Another net friend at first.. Then Mystique followed to make us better friends...

My old friends:
Sarma,Abhijith,MS,Hari: These people were really good friends.. I do have contacts with Sarma on a day today basis.. But the other two are missing... Just hope the best for them in their lives...
Hari, though a cool buddy at first, somewhere down the line we lost contact... Happy to have revived contact with him of late...
Mah best buddies:
Navneet: This guy joined PS in his 7th.. And since then we've been great friends.. We share the same family background, same culture, same interests in stuff, and so we thought why not make the other a good friend... And that's what happened.. My long time buddy, shall always remain one..
Varun: Friendship, like love, is not made... It is there and you have to just realise it... Varun was such an example.. He was the only other new admission in my class in the 5th... I realised that I could make friends only with him and it happened.... He is now in Calicut, but is there for me whenever I need him..
Shridhar: Sori, he was my first close friend, out of my group.. We knew the other well through AE-Quiz and stuff, but became good friends only when we were discussing the 9th AMTI final paper... And then we started talking over the phone on a nearly daily basis... Then KKA sir's classes happened.. And we became best buddies... Shridhar will always remain as one close to my heart, as ours is a friendship without any expectations..
Vijay:My second friend out of my group.. We became friends through AIMS, and became closer as he used to come my place every evening to play cricket... I don't know if our cricketing skills strengthened, but our friendship definitely did strengthen.... A friend for all times..
KP: He has grown from being a student of mine(lol..) to being my bestttt friend ever... We have been classmates since 5th and did the science project together in the 6th.. But when, he was selected for AMTI second round in the 8th, and he came to my place to learn some Olympiad stuff when we became serious friends.. And then he soon joined our gang... But he has always had this special place for me which I have also had for him... Without KP, I guess my life would have become meaningless... Though there are many friends willing to help at the time of distress, I prefer him most because he knows me most and acts according to the situation... He knows me fully... He knows all my secrets and for me,he is more trustworthy than anyone else on earth..
Lakshmi: Another of my closest friends... I have known her as our school topper till my 8th... Till, we went for the NSO exam at Avadi... We've grown into close friends in a relatively quick period of time... Thanks to the common classes we attended.... An achiever par excellence, she has been a big source of inspiration to achieve a lot of things... Used to study 24x7, waking me up at 11 in the morning to ask queries during the board exams... Is real fun to keep chatting with, can just browse through topic after topic after topic... Values her friendships.... And is highly patient... That is why is still such a good friend of mine in spite of me being a source of embarrasment to her plenty of times... A friend anyone would like to have..
Thanks a lot for all your friendships... Hope 2007 is more fun and eventful guys..
Buh bye,
Lots of luv,
GV...

A stroll down the memory lane..........

Well, its back to blogging here at Priory after a very long hiatus! And Shreyas's idea seems quite nice for a comeback post...... The past year has been one of the most bizarre, heart wrenching yet one of the most memorable years through out my school life.... Though most of the people whom I mention in this post, might not really be popular in the circle of bloggers, they have left an impact all the same....

11th began pretty normally. Excursion proceeded with full fun n frolic, the night we returned to Chennai, that was when everything started going down in a full fledged rollercoaster ride.....

But this post is basically a thanks to all of you guys who have been there for me, at various points of the year......

So here it goes...

1) J - Well, I've known this girl from my 8th std, though we werent really the best of friends then. But now, we've grown closer thanks to her being the only ex-10 B girl apart from me in my class, and well, I've already talked quite a lot about her previously too..... A girl with attitude overload, can be extremely sarcastic or snappish at times, but still a nice person on the whole..... Is not very emotional most of the time, but if she does get emotional, its a very rare sight to see..... Can express her thoughts pretty frankly without thoughts about how the other person might take it... Which proves to be quite a positive and negative aspect at the same time.....

2) Shruthi and Smruthi - They are the polar opposites in the literal sense of the word. They have been quite close to me right from the beginning, considering we used to travel together to school, and we had taken up the same second language and all. But this year, we have become a lot more closer. I've probably been there half the time during the past summer and its been quite an amazing time, watching movies like SAW 3, IN HER SHOES ( :D ), Evil Dead 3 and all..... And well, I only hope that this continues after we finish school...

3) Swetha, Pavithra and Lakshmi - Well these three girls from 10 -D, have become very good friends this year.... Earlier, we werent really what people would call 'friends' considering, that me and Swe had our own opinions about each other, the only time Pavi has probably recognized me out of school was when she saw me scooping mud samples for my science project outside her house ( Boy, what a great first impression) and Lakshmi , well, I only knew her as the topper who came to KSB!

But this year all that has changed.... Somehow, these three people have boned with me pretty well. And to Swe and Pavi, I gotta say this - Friends 4Ever!!!!!!

4) Vaaruni - I expected something else when I first found out that a girl from Shishya has joined our school, but she turned to be something else.... Vaaruni has a very strong personality, one that tends to put you in total comfort with her, I mean, she is witty, can crack mokkais of Ani papa's standards and has a clear ringing laughter!!! Runi has somewhat become an integral part of our group!!

5) Vinaya - Vinnie isnt here now, and I hope you are reading this from London!! Vinaya was an awesome friend, extremely outspoken yet, very demure.... She was also very funny, and could make you laugh like hell. But at the same time, she was pretty stubborn and got angry very easily, especially if someone said that Ganguly was bad!!! :D That's Vinaya for ya!

The guys :

Well, in my class, I gotta say this, it was really a huge change from 10 -B to 11- B... In 10-B me and J were considered to be somewhat outcasts, cos we used to talk to boys, and guess what, they talked back too... lol

But 11-b was exactly the opposite. Even guys like Naren, who never really used to talk before, apart from strictly academic purposes started talking a little more humanly with us. And it was a welcome relief. And then there is Deedz, and then Nandan - These 2 can only mean twin trouble, born to irritate people yet make them laugh, the eternal Great Indian comedy show in class with these 2. And if you thought these 2 were bad, there is more to come. Ani and Shivram

Ani puts mokkai like no one else can, and apparently he carries a heavy burden on his shoulders, for mokkai cracking is a very huge responsiblity! He gets tensed easily, yet can make us all laugh esp cos he keeps a bloody straight face when he cracks mokkais.....

Shivram, this guy should have been locked up in Alcatraz.. You hear him talk, and your ears literally bleed... Some of his famous quotes are ( as told to Jaya mostly. )

1) I will make a jam out of your bones and drink your blood as a juice - technically translate that into tamil, and you have what he said...... Makes you think that he is a dracula reincarnate
2) Deaf fool, go and die ( this translation is actually quite decent when compared to what he actually said)

And many other such extremely entertaining conversations have ensued between Shivram and myself, which on looking back now, seems extremely dimwitted, but still he is a a nice guy onhe whole, and has made a lot of classes extremely funny!

And then there is Kaushik Sridhar - This guy is a bloody diplomat, but his silent demeanour, and witty catchphrases are enough to have you laughing hard..... And not to mention self praises :D

NK and Kritti - The awesome twosome, they have the bloody best timing in the world.... kritti with his oscillations, which have lead to many a comment by Shiv Ku about his harmonic motion :D and NK with his comments on many teachers, esp drumming his fingers on the table, in a perfect imitiation of someone we all know and despise :D

And then the others :

Vikku - This guy, whom I started talking to about a year back, has become a really good friend in the one year that has passed. Like he has said, we share so many things, starting from allergies to music, from being online to watching movies, that it has freaked us out at times. A good friend to turn to for support, and he was there for me, when I thought no one else was. And thanks for that! Like he said, we share a telepathic connection, he can almost read my mind, literally, and its bloooody freaky!

Chappli - This guy, whom I thought to be a pompous git, turned out to be a pompous git... LOL.. Sorry, no offense Chappli, but this guy is one with attitude overload, and can be extremely conceited at times, especically when it comes to IIT class. But a real softie at heart, cries very easily, and is very emotional. Takes things to heart too easily, but well, without that where would he be.. I hope you are reading this from Bombay.... I got to know him well, only through IIT classes and thanks to KKA for that!

Shreyas - Shre, this fella is my oldest friend here at PS. Known him from my kindergarten days, when we used to argue about our handwritings, and whether his I was more lopsided or mine was. Those were some days werent they? He gave me competition in whatever I did, studies, essay writing, oratoricals, everything......And it still remains the same. His cycle is one thing I will never forget in my life :D LOL... Sorry about that... Our interests in music are similar, and he is almost as bad as me when it comes to the internet, though he refrains from chatting as it is a waste of time he calls it. Though I cant say that he is my closest friend, he comes close to that than anyone else here. And well, thats the little ray of sunshine for ya!

P. S - Your handwriting has become worse :D Have the slam book for record. Maybe I ought to scan that and post it da... The song.... LOL

Sandeep - The goof man returns. He is probably the only one who understands what I am about to write. Agent LD aint it? The trip to Niknogajaksliha and the koala bear hunting, not to mention shooting down the volcano blockers.. LOL.. Here is one guy who can have you in splits instantly~~ Three cheers to LD!

I think I've covered most part of it, if I've left anyone out, will add them later :D

Adios!~

Looking back...

The past year has been a hell of a roller-coaster ride for me... I've been through a lot more in this single year than I've been through in the past 15 years. I've made new friends and missed old ones. I've had a lot of memorable events and a few I wish to forget (but with a memory like mine, that's pretty much impossible), but enough of that. I hope other members also follow Shreyas's initiative, and write a post like this...
oh and
PS: We're not the first school-team blog. PS 2006 did it once. http://ps2k6.blogspot.com/ But theirs was made after they left school... And after much decision-making, I've decided The Priory of Seniors will be exclusive for our batch.

Let me start with a tribute to my friends, who deserve a lot for making me life meaningful. :)
I'm tempted to write my whole speech, or at least the Principal's message which LS wrote, but I'll resist that temptation.

First, I'll start with the new students to PS...

Shreyas was the first guy I knew even before I met him, thanks to a Pokemon site he used to own. Rockesh was a family friend, though I'd never seen him in my life and I met Raghupradeep first in TRS class. Rest and all only in school I saw.

1) Pradhum
The first person to my knowledge who answered positively to the question I ask everyone I see.
Someone who actually watches WWE. I remember the first day... I couldn't believe that this guy was a WWE fan... (he showed me his UNDERTAKER pencil box to prove it :D ) I got to know him really well through the year. We had a lot of fun in the excursion... He has one stupid cellphone... I can never get any message he send. :( Stupid ass won't even come down to the ground to eat lunch. All cause he doesn't want his stupid ass to get dirty. The only comparison to us I can think of is the tag team of Rated RKO. ;)

2) Satyaki
I used to be the first to come to school for a long time in the first term, and whenever I did, no one would be there. So I'll summa go upto 11 D... got to know Satya in these morning visits to 11 D. This guy's a really fun guy to be with... At first all he did was complain about our school's lack of enthusiasm in sports. Got to know him a lot better during lunchtimes. Oh yeah, the food he brings is just too good. :D And dudes be warned!! He knows a lot of martial arts!!! And forever be warned of the dangerous POONGI!!! :P

3) Anirudh
The stupidest thing that came out of my mouth may have been when I said Satti was a jovial boy. This dogface (his choice of words, I'm sure he'll like the compliment) has ensured that my life was hell the last one year. He's still waiting for an opportunity to 'get back' at me, God only knows for what.

4) Shreyas
The man, the myth, the C++ Genii. He was exactly how I visioned him in my mind before I actually met him. I'm glad I have one person in my class who'd actually understand what I'm talking about... techno stuff, I mean, is not something my close friends can really comprehend. No offense to the lesser beings, but there's no point talking about computer related stuff to anyone else. Cool dude, I only wish he'd spared some time for fun instead of just immersing himself in his books.

5) O. Raghupradeep
Semma KD bugger. Matter paiyan. Got to know him a lot when I used to drop him on the way home. Doing what? Talking matter, what else? :D

The next, old friends I miss...

0) (at about the) Vishnuvardhan
I couldn't decide whether to put him on the earlier list or not, so I'll put him as the zeroth element of this list. He's probably enjoying life at Singapore... this dude made 11th so much fun. The most fun dudes out of the new students (what out of 3... him, satti and raghupradeep). I owe him a lot... he won 11 A a hard-earned victory. He gave us a super demonstration of Hips don't lie! Miss you mate!!! Hope to see you soon in India. :P

1) Amogh
A BLOODY PUNKUTTY!!!! I'll never forgive you assclown for leaving us and going to Bangalore. Still, we had a lot of fun when he came back. I miss having someone to tell WWE results to, someone who'd droop his head on my shoulder so I could tip it to the other side, someone who'd listen to the full story of countless anime... :(

2) Kritthivasan
If Kritthi had been in 11 A with us, I'd probably be a lot better in studies. For one, I would've copied down notes. Kritthi was the only person I knew who nondified with computers and learnt by himself. Appo appo he'll have to format it thanks to some thing he would've tried... Though I doubt Sandu would want one more person to rub it in with Arsenal... :P

I miss a lot of the old-school guys... In fact, I miss each and everyone of them... Swami, Hari, Baba, Pramodh, HELL, I even miss ASHWIN...

New found friends I never knew existed:

1) Shruthi
Got to know her in the 10th holidays. We are so much alike that it's scary. We've got 6.023 x 10^23 things common between us, and each one is weirder than the previous. We've got what Zack n Cody would call "Twin Telepathy". Both of us scare the hell out of each other out... We've had a lot of fun though.

2) Zombie
I knew this guy existed for a long time (Usually after exams/assignments, Shridhar would go and ask Rohit and Sriram about their performance) but the first time I actually saw him in a non-academic context was in the 10th excursion. We sat on opposite tables for lunch, and this dude, was LITERALLY SLEEPING over his food. That's how he got his name "Zombie". :P
Got to know him over the full course of 11th std. being his benchmate. We've carried benches around for teachers, inscribed in them, and hell, even broken a few! Crosswords are our passion!!! We do them every day... instead of writing notes. Nobody but him could've held out on a discussion about life with me. This guy is simply nuts. And he keeps reminding me I have a
very sharp memory. And I've suffered a full year of being poked in the ribs. Can't forget that.

3) Sreekanth
Our friendship was revived after a long 6 years... and Sreeki is just the same when I last saw him. I've gotten to know him a lot better, and he's a very resourceful guy. Knows his way around the Net. Someone who actually makes use of the Net to download softwares and e-books, and someone who actually knows his stuff. Fun times, we've had. Like the other C section guys, there's always comedy with him around.

4) N Lakshmi
When we were in the same class for 6 years, neither of us had any idea about each other. Only in the 11th we got to know each other. And my, she's one person who's more rebellious than me. And that's saying something. Just before she took her leave from the world of internet, we used to talk about various stuff. PS, teachers, zodiacs, blogs, etc. She's got quite a good vocabulary... learnt a lot of hi-fi words by reading her blog.

5) Trisha
Very inquisitive girl... She'll keep asking me what each of my status messages on messenger mean. Why can't anybody recognize song lyrics??? I remember one of the first times we talked. She suddenly IMed me saying "no". Then only I realized that was a reply to the question I had in my status message... ("Are you willing to die?" - "You know my name" - Chris Cornell) A creature of the night just like me, sleeps very late. Very helpful... Gives great advice... plus she's given me lots of "tips" on how to campaign, however risky the techniques might be. ;)

6) Deeptha
A very fierce women's rights activist. Till 10th, the only thing I knew about her was that she draws very well and has a brother who is a big fan of DBZ. Only now I realized how much she will fight for equality. The only person who actually is standing for the SPL post with some substantial reason, and not just for the sake of it. Very determined... she won't leave anything until she's through it!

7) Jayasharadha
She copied my style and calls herself J. Copyright infringement!!! I got to know her in the later half of 11th after she got her scene computer. Our taste in music is VERY VERY similar. Plus, she knew about Tickle! Another creature of the night. She sleeps very very late.

9) Chappli
I'm not a Maths genius like him, so I don't know the numbers properly. I just thought this number would be apt. :D After Ashwin left, Chappli was the poor target for me. Not a worthy choice, I realized now. We've been through a lot of fights in just one year, especially in the very beginning. I still blame him as the reason for most of my misery. Stupid guy. Still, we're friends when it comes to the school's sake.

11th was a nice year, made new friends, adopted family :D, newer enemies. People I had high regard for once, now no more. New favourite teachers, new hated teachers (outside PS obviously, I can't hate a teacher in PS if i tried)...

11th had a few defining moments too. I'll recap them a bit.

1) Excursion
The trip to Yercaud was great. Got to know Satya and Deedz a lot better. We had semma fun there. UV miss especially was fun during the trip. And yeah, we had a lot of monkey business there.

2) Kalpakosha
My debut culturals. Chappli messed it up. We came 3rd. Out of 4th. And they played the old Raw theme song, "Across the Nation" by Union Underground. Imagine, "MOVIN' TO THE MUSIC, PLAY THE F'N' MUSIC, MOVIN' TO THE MUSIC, YEAH!" echoing throughout the audtiorium with Unnikrishnan in it...

3) Smaraneeyam
I get this long weekend, so I go to Egmore to my cousin's place. Pranesh calls me somehow, and tells me to come to Bharathi Vidya Bhavan the next day. I get up at 6, reach home and get ready, then leave and reach there by 8. It was truly a great show. My team, or rather, the team I was a part of (Me, Arka and Goutham) came 2nd. Not bad eh? I remember a few answers to the prelims: Deustche Bank, Pirelli, Chandni Chowk etc. The finals rocked. I can safely brag that it was thanks to me only we came 2nd. Ofcourse, the main themes of the finals revolved around video games and anime.

4) Shridhar and Gokul's treat at Shakes 'n' Creams
I went there directly from Smaraneeyam, in my uniform!!! Certificate on one hand, prize trophy on the other. It was a Monday, and we were just talking about Chemistry lab and all its breakage. Right on cue, Sandeep broke a glass cup. LoL. Oh yeah, and there was this weird waiter dude and Margherita.

5) Exams
Nothing is more satisfying than failing in Physics and getting more marks. Except finishing a c++ paper meant for 3 hours in 45 minutes. I DIDN'T GOT IT LITTLE KID, but I proved that I was "TOO BRIGHT"!! :D

6) Football
Most of our 10th holidays were spent playing this noble sport. Playing defense is the best!!! No hassles and no need to run so much too. PES 6 also deserves a mention under this title... I play a lot like C Ronaldo on it according to my friends :D

7) Renaissance
YEAH!!!! This is the highlight of the year. 11 A beat 11 B by FOUR points :D Thanks to all the talented non-nerds of 11 A. Not only that, I get to publicize it in Mystique with my name on top. :D

8) Scintillations
The whole show was not that bad. Compared to the crap I endured the year before that, I guess this wasn't so bad. Adzap was amazing... Sankara rocked. PSBBN's light music entry was also too good. The more things change, the more they stay the same. 2 years back, I sat with Niranjan and witnessed the awful quiz conducted by our BSNL sports quiz dude quizmaster.
He showed some old building and asked its name. This year, he showed a street. (The ans was T P Koil st. btw) The best thing about this year's Scintillations was getting to know Sharanyan.

9) Farewell
After all the hardwork put in by us, we managed to show PS the finest farewell it has ever seen. As a result, I became so famous that even UV miss knows my name now. 12 A kept the show fun for everyone, except maybe the people who ended up on the recieving end of their kalais.

10) Amogh's return
Finally, the Amogh said FINALLY!!!! THE AMOGH HAS COME BACK TO CHENNAI!!! We had semma fun with him back. Though short-lived, it was just like the old days, with a new us. Like he said once, we (as in our gang) never got a proper name. Well, I'll just refer it as "we" here... We had fun in the very short time we had... Citi Centre, Planet Yumm, Beach... some places we went. It was nice to see some things I thought I'd never see, like Amogh drinking a cocktail of Milkshake and the green liquid that comes with Pani puri together. Pity we couldn't have a sleepover.

Well, that's about all I have about the past one year. For all its hype, 11th sure turned out to be an ugly year. I just hope 12th is a lot better...

Spiderman 3 Review

What do you get when directors try to mix emotions, romance and action and pack it hard in a 2.5 hour movie, well my friends and I got Spiderman 3 today..... I am definitely not in upper echelons to attend the premiere, but my friend stayed up long enough to book a ticket for the 2nd day. How were the expectations? Spiderman-1 and two were good movies but definitely in my opinion, not the best of the best. So my own personal expectations weren't sky high and this really helps to write an unbiased review of any movie. I expected a good movie and the movie was very good.

"Next Summer... The greatest battle lies within.." is the tagline of the movie. Quoting Wikipedia:
Spider-Man 3 is a 2007 superhero film that is the third film in the Spider-Man film franchise based on the fictional Marvel Comics character Spider-Man. Sam Raimi, who directed the previous two Spider-Man films, returns to direct the third installment with a returning cast that includes Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst, James Franco, Rosemary Harris and J. K. Simmons. The film also stars franchise newcomers Topher Grace, Bryce Dallas Howard and Thomas Haden Church. Spider-Man 3 was commercially released in multiple countries on May 1, 2007, and released in the United States in both conventional and IMAX theaters on May 4, 2007.
Spiderman-3 is a good combo of action and feelings, as the tagline goes, the action is not just on the outer surface. The direction is excellent, the scenes have been well shot and the actors have done justice to their jobs. The director has clearly brought out the story without complicating things too much and the movie is a good experience for people of all ages.

If you thought Spidey-3 was all about SpiderVenom, you've got to think again. There are a lot of other battles raging on. The movie starts with Peter Parker, Mary Jane and Spiderman. Spiderman is a NYC hero and the whole city adores him, kids wear Spidey T-Shirts all over and blah, blah.. Ofcourse Pete also manages to find time for MJ and class. MJ has just got her first big break and Peter watches her from the first row and focuses more on her than the song while critics tear her into pieces and MJ loses her role. Sadly Pete too full of himself is not really able to understand MJ's problems that well and his idea of proposing goes down the drain after he pisses MJ off and their relationship starts going downhill.

Enter Harry Osbourne. After an initial fight - GreenGoblin vs Spidey, Harry loses his short-term memory and forgets that Peter is Spidey and that he is responsible for his dad's death (which isn't true actually, watch Part I and II). So, Pete, Harry & MJ become the the best of friends and while Pete is too busy saving the city and building his ego, a slightly romantic angle pops up between Harry and Mary Jane which pops out immediately but brings back old memories to Harry and there is a lot of focus on relationships.

But while all this goes on, the focus shifts in 2 other ways. First, we are introduced the 3 villains - GG, The Sandman and an evil alien symbiote. Unknown to Peter, an alien creature climbs up on his bike and enters his room. Due to Harry's threats, MJ breaks up her relationship with Peter (though it isn't that clear whether she really wanted to do this). Peter, angry and frustrated, doesn't realize the symbiote slowing coming over him and when he does, he thinks it's too amazing. The power, the energy and all... By the time, the doc warns him about the alien, it's too late - The symbiote feeding on the host slowly begins manipulating him. It amplifies the host's feelings especially aggressiveness and Peter does not realize it until too late - he hits MJ.

In the picture comes Eddy Brock, a wannabe photographer at the Bugle and Peter Parker's photographing rival, who is humiliated by Pete. When Pete realizes that the alien has almost taken control over him, he somehow manages (note: the symbiote has a weakness!!!!) to dismantle it from him. The symbiote soon goes over to Eddy and the Venom is born, with only one motive, to take revenge on Spiderman. While all this happens, subtly comes in the story of the Sandman, Marko Flint. Marko is an escaped convict and the one who actually kills Uncle Ben. However he is just a good guy with bad luck, he wants to save his dying daughter and we see some gaps being sealed at the end.

And then comes the final frontier, the great battle, the ultimate sacrifice and the triumph (hmm....) of good over evil.

The direction is simply fantastic. The scenes have been well shot and an over-dose of romance has been avoided. The special effects are top class. The movie is crisp and fast-paced cause I never even looked at my watch until the end. (This is my sign of the pace of the movie). Tobey does a very good job as the balance, Kirsten Dunst over acts as usual, she could have done a much better job. Surprisingly the show stopper is James Franco as Harry Osbourne. Though the role itself has limited potential, he has done a fantastic job. GG's gadgets look very slick, wouldn't mind them. The guy acting as Marko Flint (he looks like Ireland's cricket captain Trent Johnston) does a decent job though his face is unable to portray much emotions. Bruce Campbell as the maitre d' was hilarious.

There are a couple of inconsistencies in the movie. I've always thought Uncle Ben's house was robbed before he was killed though this movie changes that perspective. Remember the "You probably have more money than us" dialogue? Also, when the butler tells Harry that Spidey couldn't have killed Osbourne Sr, one wonders why he didn't say this before, 2 movies ago. The romantic angle between MJ and HO hasn't been properly explained. There are too many story lines going on simultaneously but it does not get complicated and the movie has been neatly wrapped up with the loose ends sealed. The comedy is very subtle but definitely an add-on for the plus. Somewhere in the middle, it starts getting a bit boring but before you can even think of that, the climax is rushed down your throat.

However the biggest letdown was the climax. I'm not spoiling much here but after building up such a great movie, the climax was a damp squid, all twelve of us were terribly disappointed. It was way too flat for a Spiderman movie. There was laughter where there was supposed to be tears (from our side, ie). The initial critics have been way too harsh but the movie isn't that bad really. "With great popularity comes great expectations".

Overall, it's a good movie and a must-watch for Spidey-fans and non-fans alike. Definitely you shouldn't miss it. While the movie does not stray apart from the path laid by Marvel Comics, comic readers will appreciate the books more as the movie does not provide the taste provided by the amazing comics. If it weren't for the climax...*sigh*

Ofcourse the door is wide open for Spidey-4, so don't close your mind yet...... I wouldn't mind a Spidergirl either.

:::"Rating: 3.5/5":::

P.S: I also managed to see the trailer of Pirates Of the Caribbean: 3 - At World's End. It was classy.
