My Yearbook 2006-07 - Sincerly S.Shreyas
As I walk back down memory lane, I am reminded of Prof.Dumbledore's words "Another year has just passed right through us" (Not the exact quote, but I couldn't care less). Yes, another year has just whizzed past us, for the better or for the worse you tell? And when I look back, it just seems like yesterday when I walked into IIT class thinking that I couldn't match upto most people and June 7, 2006 walking into my new school thinking I would be total misfit into this new highly competitive environment and today they all seem ridiculous. Judging by the pace, it still feels like yesterday when all this happened. I can re-collect all my events with ease and I feel that there is a lot more which is going to happen. I am actually quite shocked to think that I'm in class 12 now and someone said, I would being a kid again.....
2007 was a year of it's own. I have never experienced anything like this in my 16 years career ;) . A year filled with seriousness not sans fun. A year like no other where we have all radically changed. Thinking of my own past self, I doubt if any of you would even believe that it was me looking at pre-April Shreyas. But that aside, 2006-07 was a year filled with it's own share of events. Some good, some bad, some terribly ugly.... Point out if yours truly has missed something.
The Good
1) My IIT Prof: When I entered with fears, apprehensions and uncertainty, only one person radiated hope for me. K.K.Anand sir. If I am even something today, I attribute most of it to him. My interest in physics, my visualization, my logic and my tremendous increase in speed. He is the man, my role-model and one whom I look up to, in awe, every single moment. He is truly the Man of the Series.
2) New friends: I've made 50+ new friends in under a year, friends who have been with me in times thick and thin, good and bad and friends who are truly FRIENDS.. A big "Hip-Hip-Hooray" for my friends without whom my life would never be the same. You guys rock!!
3) Winning the Intras: XI A proved it's talent by winning the Intras and we rule!! I am glad to have contributed something to this victory :) and 3 cheers for our planner Vikku. Sadly, I wasn't there when we got the cup. We have have our differences, our thoughts and feelings, but we 'gelllll' as a team.
4) Some selections: 06 proved to be a bit lucky for me in terms of some exams.. For the first time, I actually qualified for some external exams... Maybe it's the P.S charm!!
5) BSNL Broadband Up: On Jan 1, 2007 when BSNL upped their 250 scheme to 1GB data transfer per month, you couldn't have found a geek happier than me. I was in heaven, atlast, my lusts could be satisfied.
6) Mr.Ramu: If there was one other person who I held in awe, it was him. You can look over the city 3rice but never find a teacher as brilliant as him. The interactivity, the depth and the visualization... Mr.P.Ramamurthy is da best.
7) MP3 Player: I travel a lot and my MP3 player has been my constant companion in my experiences. It keeps me calm, focussed and I relax listening to good music.
8) C++: If Mr.Ramu was the icing, C++ is the cake. Yeah, Computers have always been my favorite but if there was one juice that I loved devouring, it was C++. The language is top-class and the scope tends to infinity. Highly powerful, yet simple C++ is the language is truly a language that one can learn, learn and keep learning. It was the only thing which made my school portions worthwhile.
The Bad:
Numero Uno: Jaya. Self explanatory!!
1) School and IIT: Managing School and IIT is defn not my cup of tea and bunking school took some horrible twists and turns last year. Coping up for both was never easy and I was always reminded of the Kota students who study like cows whenever we wasted time shouting in class.
2) XIA: Sorry to say this, but I have to.. XI A may rock but it is worrrst in many ways. We have induced upon ourselves this bad name, the constant shouting which gives he headache and the irrational bunking by some which gives the others a hard time. The behaviour of some of my fellow class mates does drive me to insanity.
3) Maths Centum: Sadly, I was not able to score a single cent percent last year. Not even in the assignments always missing by 1/2 mark. I hate 24.5.
4) Not being the Overall C++ Topper: If there was one subject I knew, I stood a chance of being topper, it was C++. I hoped to collect atleast 1 award but sadly a '7' in the 3rd assignment spoiled the whole class's chance and it is sad to see someone from XI D being the topper.
5) Mosquitoes: A personal gripe. These annoying PESTS *************** spoiled my whole life and made it hell. The electric bat which I bought, didn't make things really better cause they just kept comin, the more I hit, the more they come. They didn't allow me to focus on even 1 job.. I hate these creatures.
6) Football: My favorite sport and every PT period, we had to contend for 2nd best.
The Ugly::
Perhaps you wondered what was really coming but for XII A students this is no brainer. Yes, I'm sorry to say this, she is a good person but a terrible teacher. My whole aptitude for Chem was wiped off and the whole year I crammed like crap for Chem, Chem and more chem to no result. Once a week IIT classes were defn not enough and I was struggling, one of the few people who were really struggling managing school and IIT chem. And the way she took it made things worse...... Wasting time @ School, I feel sorry for myself and the reason why I hate chem is her - Mrs.Anandavalli, lovingly called Andi. Yes, chem has become a horror and thank you miss for it.
My Friends:: A tribute to my friends this year who have given new meanings to my life and have been everything I could ask for.
Vikku: I actually knew this guy from an email way back in April... He is only one who knows my online side, and my old website.. *sigh those green and salad days*. He is the weirdest guy I've ever met, a pervert with a good heart and is ruthless at times and never gives up what he believes in. Vikku is one of a kind. (Link: My Site old site ie)
Zombie: He is a true genius untapped. He has the best ideas, is a true bookworm and is a physics nut as his email ID says. The endless amazing discussions I've had with him, the cool books that he has intro'ed to me, will I ever forget them??
Shridhar: Shridhar is a lot like me in many ways. An avid quizzer, interested in football, but also interested in studies. Loves C++. There is too much to say about this great guy in under 5 lines. He is the Steve Waugh of PS... Damn cool, neva seen him get angry and I've never seen him get angry. He is one of the few people who manage to rock in everything and is loved by all!! Ofcourse we are also part of elite group called "The Antisocials"..
Nitish: I've known him in CV but we've gotten quite close this year thanks to those frequent auto-trips. A true sports buff, Nitish is one guy nobody can beat in sports. Ofcourse, he is quite a hardworker and manages to do well in all that he does, be it sports, be it studies, be it quiz. Ofcourse his aptitude for C++ made things all the better.
Ranga: This guy is priceless, so are his sayings. "You all who head?", "You all big ava, we all small ava". He is childish and immature in lot of ways and manages to get into trouble. He is quite the sincere guy who works very hard but never shows it. But above all, he is a lovable character, whom so ever the other end is. He is a true friend, loyal at all times and one you can turn to whenever you need anything. He is true attache... Mr.Jalra, but a great guy nonetheless.
Narendar: We weren't really that close in CV but now we are. He is silent but a fox always waiting for the right opportunity to strike. Narendar is quite brilliant and all of it he has achieved by his own hard work, not his IIT Classes or school. He knows quite a few of my secrets and is one of the people who I talk freely to. He has been hearing my rants and comments silently and gives me good advice on some issues. Narendar is a great friend willing to help at all times and one who has a variety of interests. Don't judge Narendar by his looks or actions.....
Chappli: Wait, I am getting here. Where do I really start about this guy? He is a world in himself, so diverse that I cannot really explain what I feel about him in such a short desc. Yes, he has his short-comings, he is dominating, arrogant and thinks too much about about himself, but is a splendid guy. Outspoken and no hyprocrite, he speaks the truth always and never hides his feelings whatever be the situation. What I really admire about him is not his mathematical brilliance but the fact that he is the only guy in the whole of PS who can take teasings and criticism so well. The whole world teases him but yet he is not moved.. Truly a symbol of greatness. Ofcourse I don't need to talk of his academic achievements. Chappli is more than all this a great friend, one whom you can talk to at all times, whom you can be free to.... One who shares his feelings and expects the same. He is a man of a single face, but many subfaces.
Shruthi: My oldest friend in this list and one whom I'm glad to have the ties mended. She is a terrific person, one who knows a lot which is happening around. She is a net-junkie like myself and has diverse interests, from art to harry potter to poetry to IIT Classes..... Ofcourse she is another person who gets teased a lot but does not really take it to heart. She has great mental strength and can above all of them. A friend whom I can always be open to and share my feelings, she knows me not perhaps inside out but more than anybody else in P.S... A great friend, you can lean on to at all times and a friend for life.
Prasad: Would I miss him? Not for the world? Just got introduced to him last april and I really can't believe how close we have become in under a year. My academic partner in crime, we have worked out a lot, a damn lot. Apart from this Prasad is sincere, hardworking, one who never gets on your wrong side. Infact he shares a terrific rapport with the whole class and everybody loves prasad and has a great opinion about him. But that is just one side of him, after all that Prasad has the other side - the guy knows to really have fun. He can light up a conversation out of nowhere, bore you to death with his sharp and witty Mokkais, a splendid General Knowledge and current affairs person, good sportsman and great quizzer. We have been part of a successful team once and hope to repeat it again. He can quietly take in all that you say and come out with fantabolous ideas. But why this guy rocks is his physics, he is passionate about physics to the same extent that I am and has terrific degree of visualization.
KP: I am talking about Karthik Prashanth...A year ago I hardly knew he existed and only from August we really started talking. But KP is me all over. His undying love of C++, great ability in math and a stream of ideas that don't stop flowing makes him too good. What is amazing about KP is his friendship. Once you are his friend, you are a friend forever and he is one person WHO WILL DO ANYTHING FOR FRIENDS. No, this isn't sarcasm or exagguration, I'm 100% right here. Ask anybody who knows. KP is just like me in many ways, passion for computer science, sense of humor, talks.. He is one of the few persons who I can talk to for hours and hours together without even nearing the borders of boredom. He has varied scope and involves himself in all activities. And if he decides to really study for something, nobody can stop him, he is bound to excel in that field. He takes life as easy going but when it matters he delivers the goods. But this guy has mental strength which few I know have ever had and I can only hope to add. He is attached allright, but mentally dead strong.....
KP is truly amazing and a friend, I can look upto and share my innermost feelings at all times. A guy whom you can laugh with and a guy who can make you laugh even when you are on the verge of tears.
By the way, happy April Fools day. See my other post if thou wishes.
Yours Sincerly
